Learning How To Get Around

We're done with class for the day. Basically German makes me want to shoot myself. Sorry for that. The class was two hours long and she spoke in German the whole time, but I don't know any German, so I was scribbling down the stuff she put on the board and falling behind trying to remember the pronunciation the. whole. time. So...help?

Frau Miller is so nice, I think Krystle and I got lucky. She rode the subway, train, and bus with us this morning so we knew how to get to the institute. Hopefully we can remember which ones to get on to come back...We have the attic to ourselves and each have our own small room with a desk. Last night she asked us what we wanted for breakfast, and everything we suggested was on the table this morning. The food is just weird here; there's not a huge difference, but it's weird. The milk came in a little container about the size of half and half and I think it was whole milk. I can go through a whole gallon by myself in one week, so this will be interesting. All the bread I've eaten so far is kind of in the shape of those round loaves that Dad makes, and they're kind of weirdly spongy and made of rye or heavy wheat. The orange juice tastes different too, kind of bitter. Maybe not everything has added sugar? I don't really know what they eat on a regular basis, because there are definitely no Wal-Marts or Costcos around. They have two major grocery store chains - Billa and Spar, but they're just little stores and everything is kind of expensive.

We're all just hanging around in our classroom because we get good internet. Without phones and normal internet, we're all kind of desperate for communication to the outside world where we actually understand what's going on. I think we'll go out and get some food and {another} journal in a little bit. Maybe find a park...I don't know.

I don't care if you start a blog for my letters. Does that mean people aren't going to look at my real blog? Maybe you can put a link onto my real one so people will still click on it to look at pictures. Ugh. I feel like I'm on a mission.

I hope Porter starts feeling better, tell him I say hi and I miss him a million billion. How much snow did you get? I haven't wanted to change the clock on my computer because I like knowing what time it is at home, but I was late to class this morning because my alarm didn't go off since I haven't changed it...so I'll probably have to change it. Well, I can probably write again later. Love you guys
